Role Summary:

This is an operational role responsible for providing robust data logging and Internet connectivity solutions in the deployment and delivery of the Suez cloud-based Asset Performance Management (APM) platform, InSight.  InSight combines advanced data and analytics to help water treatment professionals make better business decisions, eliminate unplanned downtime and lower operating costs.



  • Using Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) codes, follow SRC (Service Reliability Centre) department quality procedures to create and compile lists of PLC tags that are required to track and monitor the performance and health of the water filtration plants/systems
  • Follow SRC department quality procedures to configure data logging computer and design data logging solutions according to the design of the site-specific water filtration equipment and Internet connectivity requirements
  • Being part of the broader project execution team, the candidate is required with work with other functional teams within Suez such as sales, application engineering, process engineering, electrical engineering, PLC programming and commissioning in the design and execution of data logging and data transmission solutions
  • Collaborate with Suez Field Service Representatives (FSRs), site operators and/or customer IT personnel to configure Human-machine interface (HMI) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) to log the required data/parameters from the plant PLCs
  • Work with process analysts, technical support engineers, programming engineers, site operators and/or customer IT to troubleshoot and resolve data logging and/or transmission issues

We are looking for motivated individuals who are willing to think outside the box, share new ideas and take on new challenges. Successful candidates will join us between 16 August and 17 September.  The first training session will take place during October.

Minimum Requirements:

-       Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Automation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Information Technology from an accredited university or college 

-       Experience in helping customers to troubleshoot data logging and Internet connectivity issues

-       Working knowledge of connectivity platform such as OPC servers, industrial networking protocols

-       Knowledge of SCADA networks and Industrial networking protocols such as TCP, UDP, TCP/IP, Modbus, EthernetIP, Profinet

-       Ability to read and understand basic PLC and/or HMI codes (Rockwell, GE and Siemens)

-       Basic knowledge of engineering dimensions and conversions


Useful skills or abilities

-       Coding skills in one or more programming language such as Python/VB.NET/Java

-       Working knowledge of operating systems such as Windows and Linux

-       Knowledge of Microsoft SQL server and Oracle database

-       Knowledge of water filtration technologies

-       Self-motivated, ability to work independently with minimal guidance

-       Previous experience in customer service or technical helpdesk

-       Good problem-solving skill

-       Willing to work in a fast-pace environment

-       Ability to speak conversational French, Spanish or Portuguese is an advantage
